Flat & Low-Slope Roofing
GEJ Roofing installs flat and low-slope roofing systems for porches, additions, garages, and other sections of a home that don’t have enough pitch for standard asphalt shingles. These roofs use a rolled membrane system instead, sealed and flashed to keep water out where a shingle roof simply can’t be used.
Why Flat Roofs Need a Different System
Asphalt shingles rely on a steep enough slope to shed water quickly. On a flat or low-slope section – common on porches, additions, garages, and some commercial buildings – water can sit long enough to work its way under shingles, so these sections need a continuous, sealed membrane instead. Done right, a membrane roof handles standing water and temperature swings without the leaks a shingle roof would develop in the same spot.
